This month, I had the privilege of attending Smarsh Connect 2025 in New York City, where Smarsh customers, industry leaders, and partners gathered to explore the present and future of communications compliance and data intelligence. The day was full of great sessions, conversations, and networking opportunities. Smarsh is innovating in some big ways. Beyond Smarsh, highlights of the day included insights from OpenAI's Adam Goldberg and a fireside chat with Saquon Barkley, running back for the Philadelphia Eagles. Sessions and conversations focused on what's happening in our industry now, what's on the horizon, and how we can prepare for what comes next. The agenda was jam-packed. No big surprise that the hot topic of the day was AI. Every session and conversation I had that day mentioned it. At this point, most people are well into their generative AI journey, constantly testing, trialing, and revising. The pace of change is intense, but excitement remains high. The industry is changing for the better. My favorite phrase of the day was "we got you!" proclaimed by Smarsh CEO Kim Crawford Goodman during her welcome remarks. It stuck with me as a powerful theme throughout the day. That's exactly what we need — a trusted partner with industry knowledge, insights, and experience to guide us through this change.
Regulatory risk and compliance: Change is here
Major shifts are underway in risk and compliance. The event's message was clear: we shouldn't fear these changes, but we do need to be ready and adaptable. Having the right partners is crucial now more than ever.
