Smarsh is one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the U.S., but we also have a global focus, and provide solutions for many companies across the world. That’s one of the reasons we’re excited to announce Smarsh has officially opened an office in the UK, situated in the epicenter of London’s financial services industry.
Following a similar pattern as the U.S., industry regulators in the UK including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) require financial services firms to meet recordkeeping obligations around electronic communications—including email and social media.
UK organizations are realizing they need to prioritize the retention of digital communications records, or risk sanctions and reputational damage as the FCA heightens its enforcement efforts around compliance. Under current regulations in the UK, digital communications records must be captured and stored for seven years—and organizations are finding they can’t rely on social media sites or email servers for dependable archiving.
Also, UK companies in general have a need for e-discovery and litigation support, where archiving and supervision of digital messages can save significant time and resources, especially when reviewing evidence or information during an investigation or legal event.
The new Smarsh office is located in the heart of London’s ”Square Mile”, right next door to the Bank of England, with plenty of meeting spaces and room for events. The local presence will enable our UK employees to focus on solutions for customers in the UK with the benefit of local support, and further our plans for recruiting top talent in the region.
